For poor

S1 = 5.1565

N1 = 13

For rich

X2 = 10.8333

S2 = 2.9181

N = 12

upoor = urich

upoor not equal to urich

Test statistics t = (x1-x2)/standard error

Standard error = √{(s1^2/n1)+(s2^2/n2)}

After substitution

t = 2.742

Degrees of freedom.is = smaller of n1-1, n2-1 = 11

For 11 dof and 2.742 test statistics, p-value from t distribution is = 0.019163

As obtained p-value is less than 0.05 (given significance level)

We reject the null hypothesis Ho

So we have enough evidence to conclude that there is a difference
