Kinetic Energy of the electrons generated as a result of photoelectric effect = 3eV

Work Function of Lithium = 2.9 eV

so, Energy of the incident photon will be:

E = 2.9 + 3 = 5.9 eV = 5.9 x 1.6 x 10-19 J

also, E = \frac{hc}{\lambda}

=> 5.9\times 1.6\times 10^{-19} = \frac{(6.626\times 10^{-34})(3\times 10^8)}{\lambda}

therefore, \lambda = 2.1057\times 10^{-7}m = 210.57 nm .

this is the wavelength of the light needed. For this, the frequency will be: f = E/h = 1.424 x 1015 Hz.
