Answer #1

HIV-positive individuals are living progressively long lives. Most people infected with this virus can expect a lifespan same as their peers without HIV, provided, they are diagnosed at the appropriate time, have access to good quality medical care and are committed to their treatment. Various factors can influence the life expectancy of individuals infected with HIV:

  1. Beginning treatment immediately after the infection has been diagnosed can lead to better chronic prospects.
  2. Effective treatment accessibility for HIV and good quality healthcare.
  3. Results after a year of beginning treatment can be highly significant to determine a patient’s likelihood of living normally. Research demonstrates that life expectancy is enhanced for persons who respond positively to the treatment within the first year than the ones who do not.
  4. Lifestyle factors like a balanced diet, involvement in physical activity, reduced consumption of alcohol and drugs, avoidance of smoking as well as being socially active can have desirable effects on people’s overall life expectancy.
