Question

Balanced Beam With Two Masses
A uniform horizontal beam is balanced on a pivot with two equal masses resting on top, as shown. The "x" indicates the center of mass of the beam by itself. If mass 1 is moved two units to the left and mass two is moved two units to the right, which statement below is correct? Note: "units" refer to the tick marks on the beam.

A) More information must be provided in order to determine where the pivot should be placed in order for the system to be balanced.
B) The pivot must be moved to the right in order for the system to be balanced.
C) The pivot must be kept in its current position in order for the system to be balanced.
D) The pivot must be moved to the left in order for the system to be balanced.

Please explain conceptually and mathematically!
