Answer: Economic Policies in any country whether developed or developing definitely have bearings on its economic growth and development.

But the question whether such policies will have any effect on the rise of poverty in nations can only be obtained by analysing distribution of fruits of such policies among masses i.e. whether such policies are inclusive and sustainable in nature or not.

There is a difference between concept of GROWTH and DEVELOPMENT as first one only focusses on economic aspect of a nation whereas Development is related with the social,political,environmental aspect of a nation along with Economic hence its more inclusive.

Today Poverty,can't be defined as lack of money but its absence of capacity in people (who are in it) to obtain their true potential.

So in that sense if policies are made with taking development in mind then will definitely reduce the poverty and if only growth factor will be taken into account then can lead to increased income inequality hence rise in poverty and reduction in capacity to overcome it.

And in Present times when inequality with in nations and among nations are on rise hence its proof of the fact that policies which are currently formed by nations have failed to reduce poverty rather increases it.

Such policies are not sole result of a law rather political will,administrative and bureaucratic efficiency they all used to be important part, hence if poverty is rising in nations and among different nations then its question mark not only economic policies of nations rather their political organisations,governments,administrative efficiency all of them.
