Answer #1

Some of the employers try to access job candidates social network profiles to make the employment decisions, which I believe is unethical and privacy invasion. As some candidate might be a best fit for the position but rejecting them merely based upon their social network profile which doesn't seem attractive to the employers is not appropriate. It can also increase the changes of discrimination in employment as accessing social networking profile gives them access to candidates personal information such as race, ethnicity etc and can influence the hiring decisions. As hiring manager make the decision based upon the non job related aspects when accessing the social networking profiles and not necessary the information present there is accurate, like for example if the social networking account of the candidate is been hacked and false statements or posts are there on that account, misrepresent the candidate. While it is also illegal as per rights of individuals, truthfulness of the information present etc and the employer can face the potential lawsuit if the decision is entirely taken upon accessing candidates social networking profile.
