Answer #1

Intermembral Index =

[(length of Humerus + length of radius) / (length of femur + length of Tibia)] × 100.

Where, (length of Humerus + length of radius) = Forelimb length.

(length of femur + length of Tibia) = Hind limb length

Therefore, Intermembral Index =

(Forelimb length/Hindlimb length) × 100.

In humans, hindlimb is longer than forelimb and in humans Intermembral Index is between 68 to 70.

The general modes of locomotion are running, swimming, jumping, walking, hopping, soaring, gliding, flying.
