Tension between AC is T1 and BC is T2 .

14(9.80) - T2 = 14a

T2 + 40(9.8) - T1 = 40a

T1 = 28a

T2 + 392 - 28a = 40a
T2 + 392 = 68a
T2 = 68a - 392

137.2 - (68a - 392) = 14a
529.2 = 82a
a = 6.453 m/s²
T2 = 46.85 N

b)
a = 6.453 m/s² ( Approx )
s = ½at²
s = ½(6.453)(0.290)²
s = 0.271 m
