Inception in the most generic term, means the beginning of something new. Inception with regard to dreams, suggests, sprouting of an idea in a dream. Sometimes in a real life situation, you may find yourself in a dilemma and are unable to make a choice. You are often asked to 'sleep it off'. Your conscious mind is no longer active, but your unconscious mind is the reason behind your dreams. Dreams, once quoted by Sigmund Freud, 'is a wish fulfilling device'.
A human mind consists of three levels. The conscious, subconscious and the unconscious. The conscious mind is the most active part of the system. Everything that you feel, think, perceive, is the conscious mind. The unconscious mind comprises of whatever you repress. You may think you have chosen to forget an episode in your life, but you just maybe resorting to your defense mechanism to cope with an episode which is very stressful for you to deal with otherwise. Repressed thoughts and feelings make up the unconscious. An individual is never self aware of their unconscious. The dream analysis suggests that, an individual's dreams are controlled by the unconscious. If you have a scary dream, it is your fears that are surfacing in the form of a dream.
