Calculate the pH of a mixture that contains 0.18 M of HNO3 and 0.27 M of HC6H5O.
Please show me how to do this! I'm not sure how to solve for the pH when given two substances. Thanks!
HNO3 is strong acid and C6H5OH is weaker acid
when they are mixed the acidity mainly comes from strong acid
Hence [H+] contribution is most from HNO3
Hence [H+] = [HNO3] = 0.18 M
pH = -log [H+]
= -log ( 0.18)
= 0.745

6. You prepare two solutions in the lab. One contains 0,010 M HNO in DI water. The other contains 0.010 M HNO3 and 0.040 M KNO3 in DI water. Do you expect the pH of these two solutions, measured using a glass membrane pH electrode, to be the same or different? Why? Predict the measured pH value(s).
