In an annual survey of healthcare consumers with health insurance, less than half—46 percent—stated they understand their coverage. Among age groups, young healthcare consumers have the least understanding of their health insurance coverage. By age group, the percentages of those who stated they have a good understanding are:
This lack of understanding undermines people when they try to (1) compare and select healthcare insurance plans or (2) determine amounts of money to set aside in health savings accounts.
You are to pick one of the above age groups as your target audience and then create a presentation to educate that group about health insurance coverage.
Poor health literacy stems from multiple things, but overly technical terminology is a huge source of this. Because of this, I would like for you to avoid using it, and I will deduct points for it. Your presentation should also be geared towards your target audience, which is going to be the age group that you select. If you select "Seniors", well, your presentation should be appropriate and fitting for that audience, for example you would probably want to include information regarding long term care. Ultimately, you are going to select what you feel are the most important topics, but some good places to start are going to be things like deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, premiums, in network, out of network, health savings accounts, prior authorization, qualifying life events, open enrollment, etc.
The selected age group is a Senior citizen in which nearly 58 percent of these have the knowledge and understanding of healthcare insurance.
Following are the topics and discussions that can be covered in the presentation:
WHAT IS HEALTH INSURANCE
Health insurance refers to the insurance that covers the medical and surgical expenses and costs of the insured i.e, the person who takes the insurance or in whose name the insurance policy is taken.
WHY ONE NEEDS HEALTH INSURANCE
TYPES OF INSURANCE AVAILABLE
HOW TO PLAN FOR HEALTH INSURANCE
HOW TO CLAIM HEALTH INSURANCE
ADVANTAGES OF HEALTH INSURANCE
SURRENDER POLICY HEALTH INSURANCE
The answer is presented in the form of a presentation that will be easy to present as the important points are highlighted. The answer is complete, accurate and best in my knowledge if you find this helpful, Kindly give a thumbs-up for more encouragement. thank ypou!
