Question

Question 5 0/1 pts In a skills competition involving many different events, two particular contestants were tied on each and every event always getting the identical scores. The scores they achieved, however, differed from event to event. For the competition, the correlation between the scores of these two contestants IS: Correct Answer inappropriate because the variable event is categorical. You Answered impossible to determine without knowing the actual scoresQuestion 17 0 1 pts Recall that when we standardize the values of a variable, the standardized value has mean 0 and standard deviation 1. Suppose we measure two variables x and y on each of several subjects. We standardize both variables and compute the least-squares regression line of y on x for these standardized values. Suppose the slope of this least-squares regression line is -0.44. What conclusion can we draw? The correlation will be 1 The correlation will be O Correct Answer The intercept will be 0 None of these options. You Answered The intercept will also be-0.44.

Answer #1

16) Answer is 1 because there is very strong relationship between the two contestants and we know that the strength of linear relationship is measured by correlation and the peak value of correlation occurred when there is strong relationship so ,here the correlation coefficient is 1.

17)The intercept is 0 because the regression line of y on x is given by

Y- Y bar= ( sigma y / sigma X ) ( x - xbar)

But here x and y are standardised so there mean is 0 . So, y bar will be 0 which acts as a intercept.
