90% of the nutrients from the food intake by humans are absorbed in the small intestines. To do the absorbtion the interior walls of small intesteines are wringled into projections called circular folds (increases the surface area), villi (a finger-like projections of mucosal cells), and microvilli (projections in the cell memberanes).
