Question

Assume you are a logistics manager and you need to calculate density of the product for transportation. The product information can be found as below. -Package: 12 inches X 12 inches X 48 inches -Weight: 48 lbs. 4. What is density for this product? (hint: please consider one cubic foot-12inches 12inches*12inches. You need to calculate based on cubic foot, 1 point) a. 5 pounds per cubic foot b. 8 pounds per cubic foot c. 10 pounds per cubic foot d. 12 pounds per cubic foot

Answer #1

Density = 12*12*48

= 6912 cubic inches

= 4 cubic foot. {6912/(12*12*12)}

In pounds per cubic foot

= Weight/ density in cubic foot

= 48/4

= 12 pounds per cubic foot.

    2. You are a logistics manager for Huntsville Logistics, Inc. and you place an order with a supplier for 250 units of a product. The supplier shares with you her cost structure which is as follows: Material cost = $30 per unit, Labor cost = $40 per unit, Overhead cost = 40% of the labor and material cost, profit is added as 20 % of the above three costs. Calculate total cost. You realize later on that you need another...

    Suppose you need to place 81.0 pounds of a solid material with density 20.00 g/mL onto a satellite, so that it will orbit the Earth. How many cubic inches of space would you need on the satellite for this material? Use these conversion factors: 2.2 lbs = 1 kg, 2.54 cm = 1 inch. Also use the usual metric conversion factors, such as kg to g. Your answer should be in three significant figures, even if Canvas might use more...

    Green oak has a density of 60 pounds per cubic foot. A block of this wood is 1 foot long, 2 feet wide and 3 feet deep. Create a spreadsheet which calculates how much the block weighs. Your spreadsheet should use the following techniques: 1) Short equations rather than one long equation 2) Separate inputs, calculations and outputs 3) Use cells which contain the values of the input parameters such as Width, rather than hardcoding the number 2 into a...

    IT Java code In Lab 8, we are going to re-write Lab 3 and add code to validate user input. The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a calculation used to categorize whether a person’s weight is at a healthy level for a given height. The formula is as follows:                 bmi = kilograms / (meters2)                 where kilograms = person’s weight in kilograms, meters = person’s height in meters BMI is then categorized as follows: Classification BMI Range Underweight Less...
