Herpatofauna are reptiles and amphibians of the some of a particular region, various biomes are associated with the diversity of these animals as the species richness occurs to be highest in humid and rainforest type climate. Reptiles somewhere shows high richness in dry acrid regions and amphibians somewhere shows it in high altitudes. So various biomes have various herpatofauna diversity.

3. Almost all the animals except humans regulates their body temperature according to the temperature of surroundings. When the surrounding temperature is higher than the skin temperature, the body temperature will evaporation will be prevented. Some amphibians and reptiles tends to seek changed place according to suitability.

Ectothermy and endothermy: Endothermic animals produces most of their heat via metabolic processes, and are warm-blooded. Ectotherms use external sources of temperature to regulate their body temperatures. They are cold-blooded despite the fact that body temperatures often stay within the same temperature ranges as warm-blooded animals.

4. Herpatofauna's ATP generation also occurs through ADP and phosphate ions by a complex set of processes occurring in the cell which depends on the activities of group of coenzymes. If these herpetofauna are ectothermic they must have utilized external sources of energy and changes their body temperature by conduction, convection and raidation.
