Rebooting a computer through the menu option (reboot by selecting "turn off computer" from the start menu and then clicking "restart" in the window that pops up) or the keystroke combination (Ctrl-Alt-Delete) is sometimes referred to as a warm boot,
Rebooting a computer by simply pressing the computer's power button once to turn it off and then again to turn it back on is referred to as a cold boot.

In computing, a context switch is the process of storing and restoring the state (context) of a process or thread so that execution can be resumed from the same point at a later time. This enables multiple processes to share a single CPU and is an essential feature of a multitasking operating system. What constitutes the context is determined by the processor and the operating system.
