Answer #1

Option B

All the pigments absorb light at a given wavelength. But the one which is the most important for photosynthesis will be the pigment which shows a maximum absorption at a certain wavelength. Chlorophyll is the best pigment for photosynthesis because the maximum absorption is shown at a wavelength of around 430 nm and 670 nm. In rest of the Other wavelengths, the absorption is minimal and therefore the photosynthetic activity is also very less. These two regions correspond to blue light and red light of the visible light range.

1 Relature photosyntheti Tata Mt rate .: 674-9- 400 450 500 550 600 650 700 1 (mm) 50 700 7

First statement is incorrect because maximum photosynthesis will be carried by a pigment which shows an absorption peak and not the broadest absorption range.

Third statement is incorrect because the pigment absorbs in blue and red regions.

Last statement is incorrect because least photosynthetic activity is seen in green wavelength.
