Question

In the adjoining diagram, show (on the illustration) the directions for the tour forces (P: hydrodynamic;I: osmotic) causing capillary and interstitial fluid flow across the capillary wall. (a) Which direction is the net flow in and (h) what is the overall pressure if: P 9 mm Hg; Pi (3);cc I 28; I 8). subject had a heart attack causing a major drop in hydrodynamic capillary pressure? Describe the pathophysiology that would occur in this case. ( What would happen to the net flow if the IF IF

Answer #1

hydrostatic pressure(p) tends to push fluid out of cell where as osmotic pressure (phi)tends to pull fluid inside cell. hence for capilary- interstial system:

Pc= force fluid out through capillary(outward) , Pif= force fluid from interstial fluid to cappilary memrane(inward)

phi c= osmotic of fluid inward cappilary(inward), phi if= osmotic of fluid outhward through cappilary(outward) membrane hence pressure difference = outward force- inward foce

A- NET PRESURE IS OUTWARD.

B== PRESSURE DIFFERENCE= OUTWARD- INWARD= (9+8)-(25+[-3])=(17)-(22). as inward fpressure ig greater then poutward pressure. hence fluid goes inward to cappilary.

C when hydrodynamic preesure of capilary decreases, means outward pressure is decreased, hence there is greaater inward force of fluid from intersital tissue, which leads to blockin of cappilary
