I you have very large data then there is less effect of outlier in regression but if you have very small data and there is a outlier in your data it impacts lot in your regression.
if you have data , then first check weather there is outliers in data or not.
methods to detect outliers.
1)Box plot method
Box plots may also have lines extending vertically from the boxes (whiskers) indicating variability outside the upper and lower quartiles, hence the terms box-and-whisker plot and box-and-whisker diagram.
2)Scatter plot :
by using scatter plot . if observation lies very outside from group observation .it is outlier.
What to do with outlier:
1) check outlier observation : suppose you have data for human age and there is one observation which have age = 205 so, it is an outlier . there are many reasons for outliers this may be a typo mistake.
you can remove this outlier by manual checking or replacing it with central value like mean , median .
2)Remove the observation which is an outlier.

What do we mean by “regression toward the mean?” A. The linear regression equation can be used to identify the average value of each variable in the model. B. Linear regression normalizes the scale of the variables so they have a mean of zero and standard deviation of 1. C. The phenomenon that if a variable is extreme on its first measurement, it will tend to be closer to the average on a second measurement. D. Outliers in the model...
How can I do nonlinear regression analysis on linear data? In that case should I still be looking for outliers, calculate slope and intercept and confidence intervals like in simple linear regression analysis?
If you have a number of scores that are outliers you should a) throw them out. b) run the analysis with and without them, to see what difference they make. c) try to identify what is causing those scores to be outliers. d) both b and c

I need help with - Are there any outliers? - thank you! Ramp metering is a traffic engineering idea that requires cars entering a freeway to stop for a certain period of time before joining the traffic flow. The theory is that ramp metering controls the number of cars on the freeway and the number of cars accessing the freeway, resulting in a freer flow of cars, which ultimately results in faster travel times. To test whether ramp metering is...
