Answer #1

There are many advantages and disadvantages when considering the contract and at-will employment. The cons and pros are shared by the employee and employer. We will discuss those.

Employee and Employer cons and pros of contract employment

The main advantage is, an employee will be eligible for all the benefits that the company is providing. It includes bonus, allowance, salary increment etc. Another benefit is job security. An employee can ensure his job at least for a certain contract period. At the same time, the employee has to adjust to the job. As the employee is made a contract with the employer, he or she can't terminate his employment without any reason. If one tries to terminate without a valid reason, it will result in a huge penalty or legal action.

Employer advantages in terms of avoiding sudden termination and can ensure the service of the employee for a certain time period but it is difficult for them to terminate the employee without any reason or underperformance of the worker.

Employee and Employer cons and pros of at-will employment

Here, in this case, an employee can terminate suddenly without any notice period but devoid of any benefits compared to contract employee.

Employer benefits in terms of getting service without giving benefits to the at-will employee but suffer from immediate termination.

The government must ensure the equality of an employee in private business to avoid discrimination. An employee should get the right to fight against discrimination and accompanied by all legal benefits. The government must involve in all situation in case of discrimination from an employer occurs.

Collective bargaining and the right to strike ensure employee rights protected but should place a limit in order to avoid the misuse of the same. The Government can determine these limits and policies.
