Why is protecting equipment an important element of this concept, and how are some of the ways we secure equipment? And discuss and include the different considerations that compose this element of physical security and why it is important. 250 words please
For a company, the aspect of physical security becomes just as important as maintaining the integrity of their systems and the data and therefore, a company should create an overall policy which takes into account securing the hardware devices, especially the ones that make use of the company’s leading network. It becomes an easy target for the attacker to make use of to infiltrate the systems of the company. If they cannot breach the network through brute forcing their way in, they can quickly introduce a virus or malware in the system through the use of plugging in a carrier device such as a pen drive and transferring it into the system. It makes the system vulnerable to be monitored for potential data, login credential and even allows a backdoor to the attacker.
In order to create a better, more secure environment for the data centers and hardware devices the employees use, we can utilize the following process:
1. Entry should only be allowed based on clearance, and through
the use of scanning a smart card embedded in the identity card of
the individual seeking to utilize the hardware.
2. Biometric locks for especially sensitive data machines, main
server rooms, and other possible locations.
3. Reinforcing security through electromechanical doors that can be
controlled through h system.
4. Creating an access based system which only allows access to
specific individuals and people in the position of power.
5. Utilizing video surveillance of the areas as much as possible,
being review periodically to detect any unusual activity.
