In 1824 two people contested for the President elections they are John Adams and Andrew Jackson. In that 1824 election Jackson won the election by plurality voting but still he he did not became the president of US as he lost the contingent election that was held in the house of representatives. During that contingent election Adam got support from Henry Clay who was the speaker of the house at that time which evetuevent lead him to win the contingent election against Jackson.

After the election Clay was given the position of Secretary of state which gained lot of criticism from Jackson supporters saying that Clay reached a corrupt bargain with Adam for that position. This criticism was there till 1824-1828 which is almost more than three years and during that period people got seperated by supporting Adam and Jackson which eventually lead so many allegations and accusations against one other.

In 1828 again a re- election took place between both of them and these time Jackson defeated Adams and started the dominance of Democratics in politics.

So due to this reason Presidential election in between 1824-1828 is considered is vicious.
