Answer #1

(a) time = distance/speed = 200/250 = 0.8hr = 48 min

(b) plane velocity x component = -100cos45 = -70.71 km/hr

y component = 250 + 100sin45 = 320.71 km/hr

direction = atan(70.71/320.71) = 12.4 degrees west of north

(c) plane must head opposite to direction it is heading now i.e 12.4 degrees east of north

(d) time taken = 200/y component of speed = 0.623 hr = 37.4 min
