Limiting Reagent :

species which gets exhausted before the completion of reaction is called limiting reagent

let's understand with example

H2 + Cl2 ----> 2HCl

this is an example of balanced chemical reaction

if we take 1 mole of H2 and 2 mole of Cl2 initially

then

we know that 1 mole of H2 react with 1 mole of Cl2 hence ratio is 1:1

so in this case H2 is the limiting reagent which gets consumed during the reaction
