a. After a couple of months of training a mountain biker is able to increase the force they apply to the pedal by 300 N. Assuming all else stays equal why will they now be able to increase their velocity at a greater rate on the same bike. Explain using Newton’s Law(s).

b. With a couple months of training the mountain biker lost 5 kg of body mass. Explain why they would now be able to increase their velocity at a greater rate even if they are unable to apply a larger force to the pedal.

c. Now that the mountain biker has develop their fitness and skill they are in the market to trade in their aluminum frame bike for a carbon frame (lighter) bike. Explain how this would help the bike and biker move uphill more quickly assuming all else remains equal.

C=24 x = 2 - 4 angular acon increases and increases cet a greater rate relocity - ma w If so mass decreases then accu increases velocity increases at a greater rate Carbon frame is lighter So moment of inertia decreases &= so so more angular acc increases speed increases, and more quickly
