As we know that the tourism and hospitality industry has been worst affected due to the pandemic and in order to bounce back to normalcy it will need a significant amount of effort to establish the process and system in place to move towards the new normal. The plan will have the following elements to it:

A. Preparation of safety of guests and staff members by the implementation of safety and hygiene practices recommended for the prevention of infection at the Hotel premises. Staff should be trained well to follow SOP and operational hygiene.

B. Recruitment of staff and retraining them because due to lockdown many jobs have been lost and if the situation resumes to normal then new staff members will have to be hired and they will have to be trained.

C. In order to quickly improve the revenue the marketing and promotion effort will have to be increased and the safety of the hotel premise should become the core communication for the target segment of customers.

D. Changes in the layout planning which would facilitate the efforts being taken to contain the possibility of the infection spread as well as procedural improvement to check the current health status of the guest.

E. Close coordination with the local administration to avoid any legal or compliance issues as there is much new regulatory advice is being released there that advice from administrators needs to be closely followed.

In order to avoid such difficult situations and get the alarm before the impact takes place the industry body should work and coordinate closely with health departments which closely monitor and track such epidemic and outbreaks of disease. Any early warning system will help in minimizing the impact on the business and a beforehand contingency plan can be created and to the possible extent, the business can be protected.
