Identify two different methods for collecting data in qualitative research. What are the benefits and challenges of each? Propose a method to analyze the data collected by each method. Explain why the analysis is appropriate for the method.
The two different methods of collecting data in qualitative research include interviews and focus group discussions. The benefit of using the focus group discussion is that it provides information on opinions, perceptions. The challenges of using this technique include the hesitation of not expressing personal and honest opinions.
The benefit of using interview include the effective understanding of the person whose interview is being taken. One major disadvantage arises from the accuracy of the respondent.
To analyze an interview, it is best to verify the facts iterated by the respondent. Secondly, to analyze the focus group discussion is to judge the discussion based on the presumed parameters.
Analysis is important for the method because the only analysis will be able to filter out the data that will not be required for the research purpose.
