AP Newtons Laws Test Show and label all work. Partial credit can be awarded for appropriate work shown. Do not forget units for final answers and please box all answers. Put a two oh six in the top left hand corner for a point. Three blocks of masses m, 2m, and 3 m are connected by two T1 2m. massless strings as shown in the diagram to the right. The string labeled Tı connects the m block to the 2 m block while the string labeled T2 connects the 2m block via a massless, frictionless pulley to the 3m block. The surface of the table is frictionless; A) nl Draw and label vectors representing each of the forces acting on the three masses. Label the vectors by their names, rather than their numeric values. 3m Express each of your answers using m, g, T1, T2 B) Determine the acceleration of the system. C) Determine the tension T D) Determine the tension T2

Answer #1

for m

T1 = m*a ............(1)

for 3m

3m*g - T2 = 3m*a

T2 = 3m*g - 3m*a ........(2)

for 2m

T2 - T1 = 2m*a .......(3)

3m*g - 3m*a - m*a = 2m*a

a = 3m*g/(m + 2m + 3m)

a = g/2 = 9.8/2 = 4.9 m/s^2 <<<<-----ANSWER

====================

C)

T1 = m*a = 4.9m

T2 = 3mg - 3ma = 14.7 m

    show all the work please 2. A 3.80-kg hanging block is pulling against a 2.50-kg block on a tabletop, as shown, via a string over a pulley that is massless and frictionless. At the same time, a constant external force F = 5.50 N is pulling the tabletop block to the right, as shown. There is a static friction coefficient is = 0.75, and kinetic friction coefficient dx = 0.15, with the tabletop (a) The blocks are initially stationary. With...
