Discuss "Heat Death" from the context of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics and Entropy.
Second law of thermodynamics states that " it is impossible for a cyclic process to convert heat to work without the simultaneous transfer of heat from a body at high temperature to a body at low temperature " means heat by itself , cannot flow from a cold body to a hot body .
Entropy provides a quantitative measure of disorder. In term of entropy 2nd law can stated as " The entropy of the universe tends to a maximum."
According to these law heat absorbed by a system cannot be converted fully into useful work without rejecting a part of the heat to a body at lower temperature.
The "heat death" of universe occurs when universe reached maximum state of entropy. when these happen the all energy which is available from hot source is given to cold source i.e there is no available free energy. Thus no work extracted from the universe . Thus universe is dead and these concept is called heat death .
Discuss "Heat Death" from the context of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics and Entropy.
Use the concept of entropy and the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics to explain why any real heat engine must waste heat energy by expelling it into a low temperature environment or low temperature heat reservoir. could you please explain this in easiest way
1. The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics states that the entropy of the universe ____ 2. Determine the ∆Gº using Appendix G for the following reaction. C2H5OH(l) + 3 O2(g) --> 2 CO2(g) + 3 H2O(l) Report your answer to four sig figs. Omit unit labels. Only add a - number is the sign is negative. Adding a + to a positive answer messes up the grading.
the 2nd law of thermodynamics states A. energy of the universe is constantly increasing B.form can be maintained by consuming energy C.energy cannot be created or destroyed D. energy moves towards increasing entropy
The second law of thermodynamics means that ____. a) the entropy of an isolated system can decrease Yes/No b) the entropy of a system can decrease if the entropy of its surrounding increases by a larger amount Yes/No c) heat can spontaneously flow from a colder body to a hotter body Yes/No d) a system tends to go to a final state which has a smaller number of possible mechanical states Yes/No
