Drone is a short name for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV). As its name implies, a drone is a vehicle that flies in air without the assistance of humans. Drone flies in air with the help of encoded software.

How has the drone technology already benefited the global supply chain?

Drone Technology makes work simpler and easier, and it has already benefited the Global Supply Chain. Drone has been widely used to supply raw material, finished products, samples products, underground mining, etc. The drone technology already benefited the global supply chain:

1. Drones are widely used in pharmaceutical industries to supply medicines & other health assistant products.

2. Drones are used during transplantation surgeries for transferring body parts to humans which is required.

3. Drones have been already utilized by various organizations as a part of their delivery system. Drone turned out there one time invested, star delivery man.

4. Many FMCG companies, or other big MNCs are using drones for keeping an eye on their inventories, and supplying their products from one place to another.

5. Drone enhances the global supply chain, as it helps to supply essential products all in the globe during disaster.

As future global supply chain leaders how do you predict that drones will be changing the global supply chain?

Drone is bringing & will bring drastic change in the global supply chain. Drone is a revolutionary technology in the field of supply chain.

Drones will be changing the global supply chain in this way:

  • It turned the supply chain upside down as it makes faster & on-time delivery.
  • Drone proves efficient helper, facilitates improved delivery service, reduces cost, great surveillance over production, and inventory, etc.
  • Drones not only reduce the cost, but also generate positive delivery results, as they can fly over the forest or oceans in less time, and help companies to expand their reach over difficult areas.
  • Drone helps in expansion of the delivery-distribution channel.
  • Drone helps to achieve the milestone in the global supply chain by making the system cost-efficient, facilitates easy surveillance, easy data management, and easy route optimization.
  • Drones introduced greater flexibility & efficiency in the global supply chain.

What are the challenges of this relatively new technology?

Drone technology has many challenges which can impact the organization harshly, if it fails in working.

The challenges of this relatively new technology are:

  • Life of a drone is dependent upon the life of the battery, whose failure during work makes it inefficient.
  • Failure of software is a major challenge for drone technology, as software makes drones working, and its failure means drone failure.
  • Unwanted weather conditions are a major challenge in a way of emerging drone technology.
  • Every country has its own radar system, which is a challenge for this technology.
  • Gaining trust of individuals who are involved in drone delivery systems is a major challenge, as people feel that their data is less secure with drones.
  • Getting accurate addresses of customers during delivery is also a challenging thing.

Select an industry that will benefit from using drones and how would you promote your ideas in order for this industry to improve, reduce their carbon footprint and improve their profit margins.

E-commerce industries have benefited using drones. Drones are widely used in delivering & supplying products offered by e-commerce industries. Drones help to reduce their carbon footprint & improve their profit margins.

Drones are the best alternative in reducing carbon footprints, helps to eliminate the dependency on the trucks or other vehicles for delivering products, which thus eliminates the emission of carbon-di-oxide in air, and saves the environment by making environment friendly & sustainable delivery.

Drones also prove beneficial in improving profit margins for companies as it helps to achieve economies of scale by making delivery systems efficient. It not only facilitates speedy delivery, but also facilitates faster production, as it helps to get raw material on-time. Drones are one-time investments by the companies which yield greater benefits for them. Drone can be operated by sitting at home & thus, makes working easy & simple, helps to save cost, & reduce dependencies. Companies adopting drones at an early stage enjoy as a market leader, as this technology provides competitive advantage to them.
