Case 1
A 6-year-old boy was complaining of fever for several days. The pediatrician ordered the following tests: CBC, ASO, Epstein-Barr virus antibody panel, Rocky Mountain spotted fever antibody panel and Lyme antibody screen.
The CBC was normal, the EBV panel was negative, and the Lyme screen was negative. The ASO was positive to a titer of 400 IU/mg. The Rickettsia antibody results were as follows:
