If the diploid chromosome number is represented by 2n, it is known from law of independent assortment, that there are 2n numbers of chromosomal combinations possible. Since, here 2n= 32, or n=5, or 2n=10.

So, the diploid somatic chromosome is expected to contain 10 chromoosmes.
