Answer #1

6.Volume to be infused = 500 ml

Time = 4 hours

Flow rate(ml/hr) = Volume to be infused \div Time in hours

= 500/4 = 125 ml/hr

7.Volume to be infused = 1000 ml

Time = 6am to 6pm = 12 hours = 12 x 60 = 720 minutes

Drop factor = 15 gtt/ml

Flow rate (gtt/min) =( Volume to be infused x Drop factor) \div Time in minutes

= (1000 ml x 15 gtt/ml )\div 720ml

= 20.83 = 21 gtt/min

8. Dose ordered = 0.006 mg/kg/min = 0.006 x 1000 = 6 mcg/kg/min

Weight of the patient = 180 lb = 180/2.2 = 81.81 = 82 kg

Available dose = 500 mg = 500 x 1000 = 500000 mcg

Drug volume = 500 ml

Drug concentration = 500000 mcg/ 500 ml

= 1000 mcg/ml

ml/hr = (Dose ordered x weight in kg x time in minutes) \div Drug concentration

= (6 x 82 x 60) \div 1000

= 29.52 = 30 ml/hr

9.Volume to be infused = 500 ml

Time = 5 hours

Flow rate ( ml/hr) = Volume to be infused \div Time in hours

= 500 ml/5 hours

= 100 ml/hr

10. Volume to be infused = 1000 ml

Flow rate ( gtt/min) = 25 gtt/min

Drop factor = 15 gtt/ml

gtt/min = (Volume to be infused x Drop factor )\div Time in minutes

25 = (1000 x 15) \div Time in minutes

Time in minutes = (1000 x 15) \div 25

= 600 minutes

Time in hours = 600 \div 60 = 10 hours

Time in hours and minutes = 10 hours and 0 minutes

11.Volume to be infused = 750 ml

Flow rate = 12 gtt/min

Drop factor = 10 gtt/ml

gtt/min = (Volume to be infused x Drop factor) \div Time in minutes

12 = (750 x 10) \div Time in minutes

Time in minutes = 7500 \div 12 = 625 minutes

Time in hours= 10 hours and 25 minutes

IV started at 7.00 am

Infusion will finish at 7.00 am + 10 hours and 25 minutes = 2 .25 pm = 1425 hours

Infusion will finish at military time 1425 hours
