RIP is the routing information protocol.

RIP is used to give the best path for the routers to share the information in traffic among group of LANs.

In Routing Information Protocol, routing area is defined as hierarchical but not statistically defined. And routing area is not only one.

Routing area is the hierarchical level and it is multilevel hierarchy and hence it has no backbone.
