Answer #1

Solution:

There are 3 sum of squares

•Sum of Squares Between Groups: SSB

•Sum of Squares Within Groups: SSW

•Total Sum of Squares: SST = SSB + SSW

a)

The sum of squares formula is used to calculate the sum of two or more squares in a given expression. To describe how well a model represents the data being modeled, this formula is used. Also, the sum of squares will give the measure of deviation from the mean value of the data. Therefore, it is calculated as the subtraction of the total summation of the squares and the mean.

b)The sum of squares is the sum of the square of variation, where variation is defined as the spread between each individual value and the mean. To determine the sum of squares, the distance between each data point and the line of best fit is squared and then summed up. The line of best fit will minimize this value
