The gustatory system is used for the perception of taste ,to an extent.The taste buds located in the tounge identifies the perception of taste.The gustatory pathways beginning from the periphery to the courtex comprises cells and fibres related to the feeling of taste ,which inflict the sense of taste in the posteromedial ventral thalamus.The gustatory system works with the help of taste buds designed exclusively for transmission of taste stimuluses. Certain chemicals in digested food will prompts these receptor cells to release some neurotrasmottors.

The olfactory system consist off nerve cells and have direct connection to the brain.The olfactory system is essential in the day to day life of human beings and animals.Olfactory system communicates sensory perceptions like smell etc to the brain .

I.The first option is incorrect because gustatory system uses only on population coding whereas olfactory system uses labeled line coding and population coding.

II.The second option is a common property of gustatory and olfactory systems because papilae is intended to increase the surface area of the tounge thereby enabling the tounge to determine the taste of the food .
