Answer #1

Solution:

Given,

E = 0.03

c = 95% = 0.95

p = 0.23

1- p = 1 - 0.23 = 0.77

Now,

\alpha = 1 - c = 1 - 0.95 = 0.05

\alpha/2 = 0.025

\thereforea/2 = 1.96 (using z table)

The sample size for estimating the proportion is given by

n = /2P(1 - p) E2

= (1.96)2 * 0.23 * 0.77 / (0.032)

= 755.94

= 756 ..(round to the next whole number)

Answer is

756
