RTKs are the high affinity cell surface receptors. Cytokines, hormones, growth factors binds to it and initiate many cascade pathway for different protein expression.
It is a family of tyrosine kinases. It is responsible for phosphorylation of many Enzymes and cause activation and deactivation, depending on the Enzymes. For example- glycogen synthase deactivated on phosphorylation.
Because it has transmembrane domain, many growth factors, hormones combines and initiate function.
