1. In assembly drawing, the whole assembly is shown i.e. complete assembly of all the parts.Assembly drawing is a sketch of a machine. A detail can be of any part, or any number of parts, of the assembly, partially assembled or not, that gives a greater detail of how it works, is put together, or of dimensions, etc. In detail drawing, a part, is choosen instead of assembly, is labelled in detail.
2. The cutting plane line bisects the object and provides a view of its interior features. Cutting plane lines and the interior features of the object they bisect are never in the same color as the rest of the plan. Engineers use cutting plane lines on the plans they are drawing up to differentiate what is inside an object and what lies outside it.
3. In the 19th century, architectural & engineering drawings were created on paper. Once completed, the original drawings needed to be copied so that copies could be given out to those who needed them for the. Copier, “xerox”, scanning technology had yet to be invented of course.
A process invented in 1861 by French chemist Alphonse Louis Poitevin used the properties of a light-sensitive gum that turns blue to create a process to copy paper document to paper or other materials. The result is a blue negative conversion where the black lines become white, and the background white colour becomes blue. That's why engineering drawings are called Blueprints.
4. A small object can be enlarged on the paper and drawn in 2:1 scale. This means the drawing of the object is twice as large as the object itself.
5. CAGE Code: A CAGE code is a five-character alpha-numeric, unique identifier assigned by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). CAGE codes are assigned to businesses, organizations, etc. that wish to pursue contracts or grants from the United States federal government.
