  • Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Treponema pallidum.
  • In the late stage of Syphillis gummas are formed which are the gummy tumors.
  • When the pathogen enters the body fluid, it attaches the wall, invades through it, and disseminates throughout the body.

Pathogenesis

  • Against the pathogen an innate immune response is generated which is non-specific that is the binding of the pathogenic protein with the TLR2.
  • After that acquired immune response is generated which causes the inflammation (TH1 and IFN gamma; Both are proinflammatory cytokines).
  • Then the B cells are activated for antibody generation against the pathogen by T helper cells.
