  • Differentiate between administrative and clinical standard reports; give some examples and classify them as either an administrative or clinical standard report.

Administrative health data is data that is resourced from, constant and routine administration of health services and programs. This type of data is gathered by governments or authorities for provision of overview on certain registration, transactions and record tracking.

Through indicators, they data is used to observe trends and have an overview of the reality at hand reflecting health programs.

In addition, this process begins with gathering of data which is fed in to softwares which analyse data into trends. This type of data is managed online, through the use of database management systems. Examples of administrative data include, birth and death records, registration records, transactions, census and pensions.

Clinical standard reports are specific details about each patient at certain intervals, collected from documentations of patient's medical history and treatment. With the improvements in technology, now these records are done electronically making it easier to access as well as keep records. This type of reports include the Minimum Data Set which is data needed from nursing facilities and the Outcome and Assessment Information Set which is data from certified providers of home health services.

Examples of clinical standard reports include, laboratory tests, prescriptions and diagnosis of patients.

Explanation:

Clinical standard reports give specific information regarding patients and the actual treatment processes, while the administrative reports provide a generalized form of data and population characteristics.

  • Standard reports should ALWAYS be run with the same parameters. Everyone - brainstorm why this is the case?

It should be run with the same parameters for it to be meaningful. The parameters should be identical with the same report that was run yesterday, and the day before that. This would ensure that all data are the same with all levels.
