According to the U.S. Surgeon General, one American now dies of a drug overdose every 11 minutes and more than two million Americans are addicted to prescription painkillers. Is this statistic surprising or shocking to you? Why or why not?

Drug addiction or drug abuse is the improper or excessive use of the drugs which may affect the physical and mental health of the person.It causes withdrawal symptoms.

These statistics are shocking especially because the youth, middle class and working class people are involved in drug addiction. Some do this to seek some adventure, other people do to treat mental sickness e.g. stress, depression.It is not a denying fact that most people are suffering from anxiety and stress and using pills to treat mental illness.But uprising in drug addiction is very shocking because present generation is the key for maintaining country's wealth and prosperity.Regular intake of anti depressants and other drugs increases psychological need of drugs and statistic data is the result of regular drug intake.
