In general, it takes about two weeks after getting a vaccine for antibodies to develop in the body that protect against the diseases the vaccine is made to protect against. Most vaccines require more than one dose over time to produce immunity and long-lasting protection. The initial response to a vaccine is similar to that of the primary immune response upon first exposure to a pathogen, slow and limited. Antibodies produced just after vaccination will work as primary response which will be slow and takes time. To effectively fight against antigen our body should be enough ready to fight against it strongly without having to fall sick as we would have fallen while experiencing any disease for the first time .
Our body takes time to produce antibodies and store it as life-long memory of infection. It is generally known as the secondary immune responses can usually prevent disease, because the pathogen is detected, attacked and destroyed before symptoms appear. This type of immunisation is known as Active immunisation which means body generates its own response to protect against infection through specialised cells and antibodies, as stimulated by vaccines. Full protection takes time to develop but is long lasting.
Please thumbs up if this answer helped you in any way. Thanking you in anticipation.
