This is not a characteristic of Theory X.

Theory X:

It is a theory of human motivation and human resource management. Theory X is explained by Douglas McGregor. Theory X states that people do not like to work neither in organization nor at home and they have very little motivation and ambition. It also states that people do not want to take work responsibility.

The average human Learns, under proper conditions, not only to accept but also to seek responsibility. This is not a characteristic of theory X because humans under theory X do not want to work and take responsibility so there is no need for learning.

Options which are characteristics of Theory X:

b. Workers prefer to be directed and wish to avoid responsibility: workers not want to take responsibility as they don't have ambition to work instead they prefer to be directed by their superior.

c. Workers must be coerced, controlled, directed or threatened with punishment to get them to work to the required level: workers don't like to work so some strict actions like punishments must be given so that they work efficiently.

d. The average human being has an intense dislike of work and will avoid it if possible: humans like to avoid work and run away from it as they have great dislike towards it.
