Importance of academic integrity

Academic integrity is about practicing right things such as managing academic honesty while appearing in exams. Academic integrity means a person is not involves in cheating, misrepresentation, fabrications of facts, conspiracy, duplicate submission, improper use of calculator or computer use, improper use of course materials, demonstration of disruptive behavior, etc. A person is also required to avoid plagiarism at any cost to maintain academic integrity.

These acts are considered unethical and unlawful and therefore, academic integrity is important. Fostering academic integrity can make other students to believe a person who holds academic integrity. Academic integrity also enhances own knowledge and learning and assists a person to be a successful leader. Fair and transparency are required from a leader and a student seeking to develop his or her leadership attribute must foster academic integrity. Academic integrity provides peace of mind and satisfaction for a student.

Penalties for violation of academic integrity

People found in violation of academic integrity will be reprimanded orally and in written form. Students are asked to attend academic honesty policies presentation. Suspension can also be offered to students and they may not be allowed to enroll in further courses. Students may receive a fail grade for violation of academic integrity as well. A severe form of punishment is expulsion of student and student may apply for readmission after one year.
