Yes, Marriott can use casual research. This is because taking into consideration its needs, casual research is used to find out cause and effect relationship. In this type of research it is important to find out the variation in the variable which is known to cause the change in other variable and then measure the changes which has been occurred in that variable.
The type of experiment suited in the research of Marriott can be attributed to the identification of different kinds of needs of of the customer. For example the needs of the business travelers need facility such as high speed internet and working space within the room and other amenities that are appearing to the business traveler. Similarly the need of certain customers is is targeted towards the price sensitive behavior. Casual research has been helpful for the hotel in finding out the cause that is what type of needs the customer is having and their relationship that is what type of services the hotel can offer to them at the price range. The experimental design which could be recommended to Marriott Hotel is pre experimental Research Design. This type of design a particular group is studied and observe for the effective application of the independent variable which is presumed to cause the change. For example in the case of Marriott their customers who have extended stay in the hotels and have different types of needs. They main need is to have 6 month to year stay in the same hotel for this type of customers the company introduced towneplace suites a value price extended stay hotel line. The Other example of this type of research design can be customers which have full service and higher prices needs with Hotel resorts and Suites and renaissance upscale business properties. So depending upon the need of the customer based on the basis research findings the company estimates the potential demand and the size of different types of market segments such as high end segments and other price conscious segment. After analyzing the needs through type of marketing research experiments the company offers its services.
