As the given pie chart shows, Coal is the largest fuel source of power generation in peninsular Malaysia. Usage of coal has been expanded from 26 % in 2009 to 42 % in 2016 and then 53 % in 2019 . From 2016 to 2019 the percentage increase shows a lot much about its popularity . As we know that coal is the cheapest one, thats why it has a big role in the energy mix of most of the countries. 1000MW power plants are more in Malaysia.

The usage of gas decreased as per the demand because usage of coal based power plant came into picture, thats why its mining decrased as per the usage of coal in power plants incresed.

13 % contribution came from hydro power plants in year 2016 , which was 14 % in year 2009 . Which decreased in year 2019 to 3 percent. It is a drastic change, may be due to its production costing is more than coal. Thats why its usage is decreased.
