QUESTION 1

In this case, we will observe more cells in the initial phases of mitosis while a almost equal number in the other stages.

QUESTION 2

The main reason is that in the first phases of mitosis (S phase and prophase), DNA synthesis, protein synthesis, chromosome condensation and the nuclear envelope rupture takes much more time than the other phases of mitosis.

Prophase: Around 10 to 60 minute, during this stage the chromosome condensates and the nuclear envelope breaks up

Metaphase: 2 to 10 minutes, the nuclear envelope disappears and the chromosomes are fully condensed.

Anaphase: 2 to 3 minutes, the mitotic spindle forms and the sister chromatids will be separated to opposite poles

Telophase: 3 to 12 minutes, the mitotic spindle disassembly and the nuclear envelope forms again
