Answer #1

The origin of life and universe has been of interest to mankind ever since and there have been several philosophical concepts around these ever since the social setting and language was formed.

However, the initial breakthroughs in the scientific research on the origins of life data only a couple hundred years back. One prevalent theory that has emerged from these theories is the Chemical Origin of Life which suggests that the primitive life was formed by random chemical reactions that occurred on the primitive Earth that favored the synthesis of self-replicating molecules like RNA and DNA.

There are three major biomolecules that serve the life. These are DNA, RNA, and protein. There have been huge debates on which of these molecules were the first to form.

An ideal molecule will be the one that has the ability to reliably hold information, undergo replication, and also catalyze processes like replication. Of the three biomolecules, only RNA is known to serve these processes.

Therefore, the RNA-world hypothesis is a widely accepted hypothesis today and states that the earlier forms of life were simple molecules of RNA. These forms of life were not cells but simply self-replicating molecules present in the oceanic broth. Proteins do not seem to be necessary for the earliest biological reactions. This is because even today there are many RNA enzymes called ribozymes that serve as enzymes for many processes.

Therefore, the correct answer is e.
