Answer #1

4)

a) Yes, it will be able to grow on the lactose medium. This is because the lactose will be utilised by the bacteria. The partial Diploid pr sent is having all the necessary genes because of its Diploid condition. For eg. Z+ and Z- genes are present, where Z+ will be able to produce Beta - galactosidase gene for lactose breakdown.

B) The expression here will be inducible , as per the normal mechanism. This is because the genes are normal and not constitutive. When lactose will be available in the medium, it will act as co-activator or co-inducer and result in inducing the genes.

C) The complementation of the gene complements present due to the partial Zygote formation is seen in this case.

For eg. The complementation is seen in -

1) cap- and cap+ complementation, where cap Protein will be able to bind in cap+ condition.

2) I- and I+ complementation, where loss of I gene activity in I- condition is complemented by I+ gene , as it shows the expression of repressor Protein.

3) Z+ and Z- complementation

4) Y+ and Y- complementation.

Because of this complementation of 4 different locii the bacteria will be able to survive and grow .

Please hut thumbsuo if I could help you ???

You are asked to develop a demonstration to show how the lac operon works. You decide to use X-gal and IPTG to determine if the enzyme ?-galactosidase is active. X-gal is a lactose analog that turns blue when metabolized by ?-galactosidase, but it does not induce the lac operon. IPTG is an inducer of the lac operon, but is not metabolized by ?-galactosidase. a. (2pts) Which of the following would you expect to bind to ?-galactosidase. Circle all that apply....
